Saturday Suttings(Translation: Saturday Wanderings) is our attempt to get away from the monotony of daily life in search of some fresh air. A Saturday Sutting is all about day trips from Bangalore. Here is the latest one of the series

Panorama view – Dandiganahalli dam

A 2 hour drive from Hebbal flyover takes you far far away from the crowded city to a calm, quiet and serene location where one can just sit and hear the wind rustle the leaves. Nothing much to do here except stare at the water, skip some stones on it and consider the larger meta physical problems of your life 🙂

Route:

Route taken: Devanahalli – Doddabalapura – Tondebavi – Machenahalli – DG Halli Dam

While this is a slightly round about route, we prefer this route as the road conditions around Chikkabalapura town has always been a mixed bag over the last few years.

Devanahalli – Doddabalapura: Good 2L roads but do keep a look out for deviations where the 4L sections are ready.

Doddabalapura – Tondebavi: Again decent 2L roads with some under construction sections.

Tondebavi – Machenahalli: Very good 2L section with very sparse traffic and lots of fields all around.

Machenahalli – DG Halli Dam: Mixed roads. Few small sections of broken roads as you turn left from machenahalli towards the dam road. A long stretch of new concrete road and then a short stretch of mud road with lots of craters which you need to negotiate to reach the dam.

Preferred Pit Stops

  1. Indian Paratha Company, Devanahalli
  2. Nandagokula, Devanahalli

Anytime when there is not a lot of cloud cover. Sunset is probably the best time to be here.
